Itzpapalotl // The Devil

The Devil (Unyielding power, tyranny, lust and greed. Discontent and depressions but also unbreakable bonds, strangely this is a positive card for marriage!) Depicted as Aztec goddess Itzpapalotl.

This goddess is truly badass! A fearsome and skeletal warrior goddess - She could appear in the form of a beautiful, seductive woman or terrible goddess with a skeletal head and butterfly wings supplied with stone blades (or bat wings). Itzpapalotl was one of two divine 2-headed who transformed themselves into women to seduce men.

I loved painting this one as I really got to explore my dark side and she’s definitely one of the creepiest paintings I’ve done!
